Comrade Boykenjayev (O'rtoq Boykenjayev) is a black comedy directed by Yusup Razykov in 2002 at Uzbekkino; he wrote the script with Abdukhaliq Abdurazzaqov, author of the novel it is based on. In Soviet-era Uzbekistan, a Russian party official wants an international cemetery for people of many nationalities, but he suffers a stroke and the task passes to the loyal party functionary Boykenjayev. He builds it in the shape of a five-pointed star, yet the opening requires an Uzbek to be buried there first. The film satirises the Soviet past. Farhod Abdullayev and Matlyuba Alimova star; it competed in the East of the West section of the Karlovy Vary festival in 2003.
