Abdushukur Khamzaev

Abdushukur Hamzaevich Khamzaev was born on 10 December 1973 in the Uzun district of the Surkhandarya Region. He graduated from the Samarkand Agricultural Institute in 1995 and from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan in 2013. He is a doctor of agricultural sciences and a professor.

He began work in 1995 as an agronomist at the Namuna collective farm in the Uzun district. After postgraduate study at the Samarkand Agricultural Institute (1996–1999), he worked there from 1999 to 2017, from assistant to vice-rector for spiritual and educational affairs.

In June 2017 he was appointed deputy chairman of the State Committee for Forestry, and from 2017 to 2022 he directed the Forestry Research Institute.

From June 2022 he was deputy chairman of the executive committee of the Central Council of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan. On 19 December 2022 the Central Council's plenum elected him chairman of the executive committee, succeeding Narzullo Oblomurodov. Media describe him as the party's leader, and his official Telegram channel still gives this post in October 2026.

On 30 May 2023 the party's fourth congress approved him as its candidate in the early presidential election of 9 July 2023; his programme included «Green Uzbekistan – 2030» and a «Green Visa» project. According to the Central Election Commission's official results he received 3.74 percent of the vote and placed fourth of four candidates (Shavkat Mirziyoyev 87.05 percent, Robakhon Makhmudova 4.43 percent, Ulugbek Inoyatov 4.02 percent).
