Anvar G'aniyev

Anvar G'aniyev was born on 19 January 1966 in Chirchiq, Tashkent Region, into a family of the intelligentsia. At school he also attended a music school, where he learned the accordion, and sang at school and city events. After school he entered the Tashkent Institute of Culture (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan).

He became known after performing the song “Ko'nglim” in the film “Ko'ngil ko'chalari”, shown on the Uzbekistan TV channel; it became a hit, and “Jayron” later did the same. Sources note more than 300 songs, about 20 music videos and albums including “Oh sevaman”, “O'zim hofiz” and “Dunyo”.

His best-known songs include “O'zim hofiz sevgan yorim to'yida”, “Oh sevaman”, “Qadringga yetmadim, malikam”, “Armon”, “Ko'nglima”, “Sog'indim” and “Jayron”. The video for “Qadringga yetmadim, malikam” was kept off television, yet the song became widely known. In recent years he has sung the duets “Dil rozi”, “Yerdagi qadrim” and “Ona” with Dildora Kunuzoqova, and “O'rtama yuragimni” and “Sog'inganda” with Mavluda Asalxo'jayeva; in 2022–2024 he released “Qarib quyilmaganlar”, “Jigarlarim bor bo'linglar”, “Orzularim” and “Maylimi”.

In 2017 he gave a solo concert programme, “Kutganim”, at the Friendship of Peoples Art Palace.

In film he took part as a performer: he sang the soundtrack song for “Nikoh uzugi” (directed by San'at Qayumov), “Do'stimning to'yi” (Zebo Navro'zova) and “Saboq” (Feruza Egamberdiyeva). He is also listed in the cast of Zebo Navro'zova's 2011 comedy “Yor-yor qani...”.

In 2001 he was named Honoured Artist of Uzbekistan. By a presidential decree of 28 May 2026 he was awarded the Order of Friendship (Do'stlik); the decree describes him as a soloist of the Uzbek State Philharmonic.
