Islom Karimov
Uzbek-language stand-up comedian, a co-founder of SAHNA Stand Up, the first stand-up club in Tashkent, and one of its resident performers.
Biography
Islom Karimov is a stand-up comedian who performs in Uzbek. He shares his name with the politician Islam Karimov, the first president of Uzbekistan; they are different people.
In July 2023 Afisha.uz named him, together with Mirshakar Fayzulloyev and Ozod Shukrulloyev, among the prominent names of Uzbek-language stand-up. The three founded SAHNA Stand Up, the first stand-up club in Tashkent, which opened to audiences in June that year.
In March 2025 SAHNA announced a try-out night for his new material. In December 2025 Afisha.uz published an interview with him, describing him as one of the club's key residents; it covered the club's move to a larger venue and stand-up in general. His solo show «Artist» was scheduled at SAHNA for 21 December.
In August 2024 Gazeta.uz, in a review of Uzbek YouTube, wrote that the new issue of the «Sahna stendap konsert» channel was hosted by Islom Karimov, as usual. In September 2026 he and Mirshakar Fayzulloyev were guests of the «Gashtak» podcast, which covered creative work, running a team, money and the limits of humour.
