Konsta

Konsta is the stage name of the Uzbek rapper Sharif Abdullayev. He calls his work “conscious rap”: songs about the problems of society and the part each person plays in events. He writes in Uzbek. He has named as sources of inspiration his work at a bazaar in Gulistan and his time as a migrant labourer in Russia.

On 6 March 2023 he released “Sariq jiletka” (“Yellow Vest”), and on 25 June he presented the song and video “Havo” (“Air”) about air pollution and tree-felling in Tashkent. “To'y” (“Wedding”) tells of a migrant worker who falls into debt over a wedding.

His albums include “Inson”, “Alximik” and “Kulrang”. Videos were made for “Jonga tegdi” and “Sengacha” from “Kulrang”; “Sengacha” reached 22nd place on the Yandex chart.

On 25 November 2023 Konsta gave his first large concert at the Alpomish ice palace in Tashkent, a venue for 5,000–6,000 people. Shokir, Ulug'bek Ismatov, Alinur, Timur Alixonov and Dilnoz Hakimova joined him in duets, and a new song with Munisa Rizayeva was premiered.
