Mirzagul Sapayeva

Mirzagul Sapayeva was born on 13 February 1962 in the Chimbay district of Karakalpakstan. She is a singer and actress and graduated from the Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute in 1985.

She has worked as a vocal artist of the Berdakh Karakalpak State Musical Theatre since 1985; the Karakalpak Wikipedia gives 8 August 1985 as her first day there.

On the theatre's stage she has sung the Mother in «Ona», Maysara in the opera «Maysaraning ishi», Ayborek in the first Karakalpak opera «Ajiniyaz», Oysanam in «Suymaganga suykanma», Shohsanam in «Oshiq G'arib va Shohsanam», Xonuma in «Xonuma xonim» and Gulshara in «Sharyar». An Uzbek encyclopedic entry notes her ringing voice, her widening vocal range and the national character of her art.

She also appeared in films: in «Tanka» (directed by Toreniyaz Kalimbetov) and «Kurort» (directed by Bektilew Nizamatdinov) she played Shohsanem.

She holds the titles People's Artist of Uzbekistan and People's Artist of Karakalpakstan and Honored Artist of Turkmenistan; in August 2020 she received the «El-yurt hurmati» order (the decree list published by kun.uz names her as a vocal artist of this theatre).
