Biography
Born on 19 March 1954 in Qibray district, Tashkent region. He graduated from the Tashkent Medical Institute in 1978 and worked in surgical clinics in Tashkent.
From 1984 to 2015 he worked at the V. Vakhidov Republican Specialized Surgical Center, rising from postgraduate student and assistant to head of the esophagus and stomach surgery department. Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor; author of scientific and teaching works on surgery.
In 2015–2020 he chaired the Senate committee on science, education and health (sources give the committee's name in different forms), and in 2016 and 2020 he was a senator from Tashkent region. From 20 January 2020 to 5 February 2021 he was deputy chairman of the Senate.
On 5 February 2021 he was elected Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In 2014 he was awarded the title Hero of Uzbekistan. In March 2024 the President conferred on him the honorary title Honored Mentor of Youth of the Republic of Uzbekistan, marking his 70th birthday.
