Chashma (The Spring) is an Uzbek drama directed by Yolqin Toʻychiyev. It follows a single pre-wedding day of an ordinary village bride, who must take festive treats to her aunt and, as the ritual requires, wash her face in the water of a mountain spring. Along the way she meets her fellow villagers, and behind their calm outward lives come hidden family troubles, love dramas and hypocrisy. Nigora Karimboyeva plays the lead; the cast also includes Farhod Abdullayev, Shodiya Toʻxtayeva and Raʼno Yarasheva. In 2006 the film won the Perspectives competition at the Moscow International Film Festival.
