Shaytanat is an Uzbek crime TV series based on Tohir Malik's novel of the same name. It was filmed in 1998 by the Qalqon studio of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and premiered in February 1999. Set in the last Soviet years, it follows the popular singer Elchin, who wakes after a night of revelry to learn that his wife has been murdered and that he is the one accused. Convinced that the killing was ordered by Asadbek, the head of the underworld, he sets out to find those truly responsible.
