The Extraordinary Commissar is a 1970 Uzbekfilm historical drama directed by Ali Khamraev, who wrote the script with Odelsha Agishev. It is set in the first months of Soviet Turkestan, as basmachi bands terrorise villagers and the Osipov mutiny breaks out. Pyotr Kobozev arrives with special powers to help the commissar Nizametdin Khodzhaev restore order. It is the first part of Khamraev's trilogy on the establishment of Soviet rule in Turkestan, followed by Without Fear (1971) and The Seventh Bullet (1972). Khamraev received the Hamza State Prize of the Uzbek SSR for it in 1971.
