Man Goes After the Birds is a 1975 film by Ali Khamraev, made at the Uzbekfilm studio from a script by Timur Zulfikarov. In this parable set in medieval Uzbekistan, the orphan Farukh and his friend Khabib go in search of the bird of happiness. On the way they rescue a girl, Gulcha, but both the friend and the girl die in a clash with the landowner Allayar. Left alone, Farukh realises that happiness cannot simply be awaited and takes up a sword to fight for justice. Jakhangir Fayziev plays Farukh, with Melis Abzalov as Allayar and Dilorom Kambarova as Amadarya. The film won a prize for its visual design at the 1975 All-Union Film Festival and the Silver Peacock at the 1977 Delhi festival.
