A 1968 Uzbekfilm production in the 'Eastern' (Red Western) style, directed by Akmal Akbarkhodzhaev and Ali Khamraev from a script by Kamil Ikramov and Artur Makarov, with cinematography by Aleksandr Pann and music by Rumil Vildanov. It is set in Turkestan in 1920, where a small Red Army detachment under Mirsharapov is sent to Khiva to confront Junaid Khan's forces and raise units from local volunteers, while Junaid Khan is backed by the British. Khamraev has said he was brought in to complete the film, and that one episode was shot entirely by Andrei Tarkovsky.
