On the Sunny Side of the Street is a 14-episode Russian television series based on Dina Rubina's novel of the same name. The story opens in besieged Leningrad and moves to Tashkent, where seven-year-old Katya is evacuated. She grows up in an orphanage and is drawn into the criminal world of Tashkent's markets, while her daughter Vera becomes a painter. It was directed by Vladimir Krasnopolsky and Valery Uskov and aired on Russia-1 starting 28 February 2011.
