Biography

Ilyos Arabov was born on 1 November 1983 in Bukhara region.

In 1991 he began studying the dutar at the 5th Children's Music School in Bukhara. From 1998 to 2002 he studied traditional performance at the Bukhara State School of Arts.

He received a bachelor's degree from the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan in 2006 and a master's degree in 2008. From 2010 he taught the dutar class at the Conservatory for several years.

He now heads the maqom instrumental performance department of the Yunus Rajabi Uzbek National Institute of Musical Art and works as a professor.

He has performed in France, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, the USA, Israel, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia. In 2023 he took part in a concert by Sami Yusuf, performing a ghazal by Alisher Navoi.

In 2025 he gave a masterclass at SOAS University of London.

In August 2026, on the 35th anniversary of independence, he was given the title People's Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
