Javlon Jovliyev

Javlon Jovliyev is an Uzbek writer, author of the novel «Qo'rqma». He grew up in a village and attended extra classes in a distant town during his school years. As a student he lived in a dormitory, where the idea for the novel took shape.

The work began after he read about Uzbek students in Germany in 2016; he drew on historians' articles and archives in Istanbul and Germany. The book came out in 2021 from the publisher Asaxiy, whose founder Feruz Allayev contacted him after he posted that the book was finished.

Jovliyev is a doctoral researcher at the Alisher Navoi Museum of Literature. In 2024 a documentary-style feature based on «Qo'rqma» was released under the «Mutolaa» project (directed by Erkin Bozorov). In the film «Matonatli Maryam» (2026) he appears delivering a monologue as the author of «Qo'rqma».
