Muhriddin Holiqov

Muhriddin Holiqov was born on 5 September 1959 in Namangan into a family of performers. As a child he was drawn to playing the accordion and rubab as well as singing. He first appeared on a big stage with the song “Parizod”.

He was a student of the singer Sherali Jo'rayev. He tried to make his songs unlike one another; “Laylim”, “Go'zalim”, “Besh kunlik dunyo”, “Boqma”, “Nozanin”, “Qizg'aldog'im”, “Qishloqdagi qiz”, “Bu dunyo” and “Uzatamiz” became known in his performance.

He gave about twenty concert programmes; his last concert was in 2000. He died on 21 November 2001.

He held the title Honored Artist of Uzbekistan. Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Abdulla Qurbonov and Anvar Sanayev are among the singers named as his students. On 5 September 2012 an evening in his memory, “Ustozlar izidan”, was held at the Friendship of Peoples palace of arts. In 2025, for the 34th anniversary of independence, he was posthumously awarded the Order “For Selfless Service”.
