Biography
Murtazo Qarshiboyev was born on 6 February 1961 in Bo'zg'ovul village, Payariq district, Samarkand region, into a farming family. From 1982 to 1987 he studied Uzbek philology at Samarkand State University.
He began working as a journalist in 1987, at the magazines Yoshlik and Mushtum (1989–1992), the newspaper Vatan (1992–1993), the magazine Tafakkur (1994–1998) and the newspaper Respublika (1998–1999).
He is known as a literary critic and essayist. Together with Ibrohim Haqqul he compiled the anthology "XX asrning eng yaxshi asarlari" (The Best Works of the 20th Century). He is a co-author of school textbooks, among them the 6th-grade textbook Vatan tuyg'usi (2015), written with Xayriddin Sultonov.
He has worked in the Office of the President of Uzbekistan since 1999. A presidential decree of 22 August 2026 awarded him the Order of Friendship (Do'stlik) for the 35th anniversary of independence; the decree names him deputy adviser to the President and deputy speechwriter.
