Biography
Norqul Bekmirzayev was born on 15 April 1944 in the Kashkadarya region. Little is available in open sources about his childhood, studies or family.
He was known as a philologist and writer and was a member of the Writers’ Union of Uzbekistan. One strand of his scholarship was Uzbek literature about war: between 1978 and 1981 he published “The Uzbek Military Epic”, “Courage and Literature” and “Uzbek Military Prose”, followed in 1991 by “The Literary Interpretation of Courage”. His later books, “Singer of the Motherland” (2005) and “A Heart Steeped in the Love of Poetry” (2007), deal with poetry and literature.
He also tried imaginative prose: his documentary novella “Truth Cannot Be Pierced by a Cannonball” appeared in 1991.
In the 2000s he wrote teaching literature on speech culture and rhetoric, including “Secrets of the Art of Oratory” (2006), “Speech Culture and the Basics of Oratory” (2007) and “Fundamentals of the Art of Oratory” (2008). According to the available accounts he wrote about ten methodological manuals and more than 150 popular-science articles, and he won the national contest for the best textbook and teaching literature author of 2009. His book “The Art of Oratory” was published by the Fan publishing house in 2019.
Norqul Bekmirzayev died in 2021; a list of scholars and public figures who died that year names him as a candidate of philological sciences and associate professor.
