Biography
Nuriddin Hamrokulov was born on 18 June 1946 in Andijan Region. In 1967 he began his career at the Andijan theatre, where he played Haydar in «Nurxon» and Ravshan in «Ravshan va Zulxumor».
He studied at the Tashkent Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts from 1971 to 1973. From 1983 to 1993 he was a soloist of the Andijan Regional Philharmonic; afterwards he mainly performed in concerts and toured in European and Asian countries.
His performances were recorded for the Uzbek Radio archive, on gramophone records (1968, 1971, 1972) and later on compact discs. His repertoire includes classical pieces such as «Samarqand ushshog'i» and «Toshkent irog'i» alongside songs by contemporary composers, and he wrote several songs himself, among them «Olamni saqlang», «Ra'no» and «Soy ko'rdim».
In 1987 he was given the title People's Artist of the Uzbek SSR. In August 2020 he was awarded the Do'stlik Order.
He died on 1 August 2023, aged 77.
