Shahzoda

Shahzoda is the stage name of Zilola Musayeva. She was born on 28 July 1979 in Fergana into an intellectual family: her mother was a philologist and teacher of Russian language and literature, her father a doctor of philosophy. When she was about a year old the family moved to Moscow, returning to Tashkent in 1987.

Her musical career began in the late 1990s in the duo “Jonim”, which became known for the song “Qarama ko'zlarimga” and split up about two years later. In 2001 she signed with Tarona Records and took the stage name Shahzoda.

As a solo artist she became known for the song “Bor ekan” and the album of the same name (2002). At the 2003 Tarona presentation she received awards for best stage image and best female vocalist of the year. “Keragimsan” came out in 2004 and was named song of the year in 2005, the year that also brought “Baxtliman” and “Qayt” (with Shohruh).

She has appeared in several films, including “Tohir va Zuhra”, “Fotima va Zuhra”, “Majruh” and “O Maryam, Maryam”. In 2009 she recorded “To'rt qadam” for the film “O'zimdan o'zimgacha”. Her latest official release is the 2020 song “Alla”.
