Biography
Shavkat Umurzakov was born in 1979. He trained as a lawyer and from 2011 headed a department against economic crime and corruption in the Tashkent Region Prosecutor's Office; from 2013 he headed a directorate against organized crime and corruption in the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan.
In March 2018 he was appointed Deputy Prosecutor General. From 27 June 2018 to 23 March 2023 he chaired the board of UzAutoMotors (formerly Uzavtosanoat). In 2022–2023 he was president of the Uzbekistan Gymnastics Federation.
On 23 March 2023 he was appointed acting Hokim of the city of Tashkent. On 3 April 2024 he was confirmed in the post of Hokim of Tashkent by a presidential decree.
In August 2026, on the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence, he was awarded the Order «For Selfless Service».
