Biography
Shomahmud Shokarimovich Shorasulov was born on 3 October 1969 in Tashkent. After school he wanted to enter a theatre institute but chose directing instead; in 1990 he took the preparatory course «Fundamentals of Theatre Art». He started in broadcasting at the children's programme desk and hosted children's programmes on radio.
When Uzbek became the state language, television needed foreign films dubbed into Uzbek. Shorasulov was invited to the dubbing department, where he voiced animated, popular-science and feature films together with other actors. He later became a dubbing director and still works in that post. Among the films he dubbed is Andrei Konchalovsky's «Uncle Vanya».
As an actor he played the cadet Ismoil Qudratov in the series «Sardor» (2000, directed by Shavkat Mahbubov), the role that made him known to audiences.
Shorasulov has also narrated audiobooks: Uzbek folk tales, the epic «Alpomish» and G'afur G'ulom's story «Shum bola», released through the audiobook.uz project and on Audible.
