Abu Rayhon Beruniy is a two-part historical biographical film of the Uzbekfilm studio, made in 1974 by director Shuhrat Abbosov from a script by Abbosov and Pavel Bulgakov. Made for the scholar's 1000th anniversary, it follows Biruni from his childhood in Khorezm to his mature years: in an age of feudal wars and cruel rulers he moves from court to court and has to defend his science against ignorance and the will of the powerful. The mature Biruni is played by Pulat Saidkasimov and his teacher Ibn Iraq by Razzoq Hamroyev. The film won the Main Prize of the 8th All-Union Film Festival in Kishinev in 1975.
