Biography
Husan Amirqulov was born on 18 February 1940 in the Kashkadarya region. He graduated from the theatre and art institute in Tashkent in 1963 and began his stage career the same year.
He first worked at the Surkhandarya theatre (1963–1966), then at the Syrdarya theatre (1966–1974), and later also served at the Jizzakh theatre. Since 1979 he has performed at the Mulla Toychi Toshmuhamedov Kashkadarya Regional Musical Drama Theatre.
On stage he played Ghani («Aldangan qiz»), Murod («Parvona»), Ferdinand («Makr va muhabbat»), Alisher Navoi («Alisher Navoiy»), Aldar Kose («Aldar ko'sa»), Mo'min («Oltin devor»), Sa'diyev («O'n uchinchi rais»), Abulfayzkhan («Abulfayzxon») and Amir Timur («Amir Temur»). The encyclopedia notes the completeness of his characters, their sense of the age and his distinctive interpretation of roles in historical plays.
He also appeared on screen, in «Abu Raykhan Beruni» (1974), «The Girl from the Legend» (1980) and «Oydinoy» (2009).
In 1993 he won the Ahmad Yasawi International Prize. By a decree of the President of Uzbekistan of 26 August 1997 he was awarded the honorary title People's Artist of Uzbekistan.
