A black-and-white widescreen Uzbekfilm production (Uzbek title "Jinni") directed by Zagid Sabitov from a script by Izzat Sultanov. A Red Army soldier, Maksud, returns to his village to find the local lords still oppressing the people; the makers conceived the film as a philosophical debate about good, injustice and the voluntary enslavement of the spirit. Cinematography is by Leonid Travitsky, design by Valentin Sinichenko.
