Alisher Uzoqov

Alisher Muhammadjon ugli Uzoqov was born on 25 August 1984 in Tashkent into a family of artists: his grandfather is the folk hafiz Ma'murjon Uzoqov, his father Muhammadjon Uzoqov is an actor and singer, and his mother Shohida Uzoqova is a film actress. He names Mahmud Rashidov as the mentor who helped him find his way in art and Valijon Umarov as his teacher of theatre.

He first appeared on screen as a child and teenager: in the television series “Ostona” (2001) and the short film “Velikan” (2003), then in the films “Seni sevdim”, “Kichkina odamlar” and “Telba” and the series “Dil payvandi”, “Tutash taqdirlar” and “Zebuzar”. His lead role in “Janob hech kim” made him widely known, and over the following years he appeared in dozens of comedies and melodramas, among them “Uylanish”, “Kirakash”, “So'nggi lahza”, “Tundan tonggacha”, “Sevgi farishtasi” and “Zamonaviy sovchilar”.

As a director he made the comedies “Mening akam bo'ydoq!” (2011) and its sequel “Endi dadam bo'ydoq?” (2012), playing the lead in both. At the 2012 M&TVA awards “Endi dadam bo'ydoq?” was named film of the year and he was named best actor. He later directed and wrote “Kuzda gullagan daraxt” (2015) and “Muzlagan”, and directed music videos for Mirjamol, Sardor Rahimxon, Kaniza and Nilufar Usmanova.

In 2013 he announced he was leaving cinema but kept appearing in films. From 2012 he also played professional football for the Tashkent club Istiqlol, and in 2016 he became first vice-president of the Andijan Province Football Federation.

Uzoqov is also a singer: his songs include “Nahotki”, “Qorako'z”, “Kichkina xo'jayin” (a duet with Ziyoda), “Tilim qursin” (a duet with Nilufar) and “Oshiqman”. In 2018–2021 he hosted the music show “The Cover Up” on Zo'r TV, in 2022 the programmes “Toshkentdan gapiramiz” and “Kim ekan” on Sevimli TV, and in 2023 “Xon Saroy Music” on MY5. In 2024 he voiced Mike in the Uzbek dub of “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”; in 2018 he had taken on dubbing the Turkish series “Sevgi iztirobi”, which was later taken off the air.

In recent years he has worked mainly as a producer and director: in 2025 he played one of the leads in the series “Yo'l” and produced it, and in 2026 he directed and produced “Chempion”, a film about children's football in which he also appears; its soundtrack is the duet “Kurashamiz” with Afruza. In 2026 he was awarded the Order of Friendship (Do'stlik).
