Lutfulla Sadullayev

Lutfulla Sadullayev (also transliterated Sagdullaev or Sa'dullayev) was born on 18 December 1940 in Tashkent. In 1965 he graduated from the acting faculty of the Ostrovsky Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute. He began acting in films in 1963.

From 1963 to 2007 he was an actor at the Abdulla Qahhor State Satire Theatre of Uzbekistan, and from 2008 he worked at the Republican Theatre of Young Spectators (now the Youth Theatre of Uzbekistan). Sources credit him with about 200 stage roles and more than 500 appearances in films, videos and television miniatures.

One of his early film roles was in "Hayot tunda o'tib ketdi" (1968); in "Karavan" (1973) he played Afzal. Audiences remember him as the singer Alimardon To'rayev in the video film "Bahor qaytmaydi", as Abdulla in "Odam bo'lish qiyin", and as Qilich Sulaymonov in the TV series "Shaytanat" (1998). He also appeared in "Osmondagi bolalar", "Fotima va Zuhra", "Sunami", "Jazo", "Amakivachchalar", "Achchiq hayot" and "Qovun", and took part in the TV programme "Otalar so'zi — aqlning ko'zi".

He published memoir books about his life, his work, his teachers and late colleagues: "Qismatim", "O'kinch" and "Meni kechir...".

In 2001 he was given the title People's Artist of Uzbekistan. By a presidential decree of 27 August 2020, marking the 29th anniversary of independence, he was awarded the Order "El-yurt hurmati"; the decree's list names him a veteran of the State Satire Theatre of Uzbekistan.

Lutfulla Sadullayev died on 10 April 2022 in Tashkent at the age of 81.
