Biography

Abdumannon (Mannon) Ubaydullayev (1940–2026) was an Uzbek film actor, director and teacher, a candidate of art studies and professor. He began as a director: he chose the directing course at the institute, worked as a director at children's radio, spent some time at a theatre in Kashkadarya and then was among those who created the radio magazine «Tabassum».

He became widely known at 66 for playing Qurbon in old age in Zulfiqar Musakov's film «Vatan» (2006), his first major film role. He later appeared in «So'nggi lahza», «Hijron», «Fidoyilar», «Omad», «Aldangan ko'ngil», «Xiyonat girdobi», «Kulba» and several television series.

For many years he taught at the Department of Sound Directing and Camera Skills of the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan and supervised research work. He held the title Honoured Youth Mentor of Uzbekistan.

He died in early August 2026 at the age of 86; the Union of Cinematographers of Uzbekistan announced his death.
