The story is set during the 1980 Moscow Olympics, in Jizzakh Region and Tashkent. An armed attack on a summer cafe kills an officer of the regional criminal investigation department. Lieutenant Colonel Tura Samatov, who investigates the case, is first removed from his post and then finds himself watched and pressured by a local drug syndicate. Realising that the police are corrupt, he and a retired former subordinate begin to fight the gang. Zinoviy Roizman directed the film at Uzbekfilm, loosely based on a novella by Georgy Vainer and Leonid Slovin; a television version also exists.
