Shok (Shock) is a two-part feature film made at the Uzbekfilm studio by director Elyor Ishmuhamedov from a script by Odelsha Agishev, Jasur Iskhakov and Ishmuhamedov; it was released in 1989. A young Tashkent journalist is preparing a satirical piece on a lecturer accused of taking bribes, but on meeting him learns that the man was in fact fighting the corruption of his region's cotton bosses. Following that thread, the journalist uncovers crimes reaching the very top of the republic's leadership. The lead is played by Rustam Sagdullayev. It is one of the perestroika-era films that openly showed child labour in the cotton fields and the spraying of crops from aircraft.
