The Talk of the Neighborhood (Mahallada duv-duv gap) is a musical comedy directed by Shukhrat Abbasov at Uzbekfilm in 1960, from a script by O. Ramazanov and B. Rest, with music by Manas Leviev and photography by Valery Vladimirov. It is set in an old Tashkent mahalla where modern apartment blocks are going up: the builders' families and their neighbours try to arrange their children's futures, while the young people help each other win the right to marry for love, and in the end move into the new building. It is regarded as one of the best-loved Uzbek films.
