Biography
Aida Muratovna Yunusova was born on 10 February 1948 in Margilan, Uzbek SSR. In 1970 she graduated from the drama and film faculty of the Ostrovsky Tashkent State Theatre and Art Institute. In her final year she was invited to play the lead role of Matlyuba in the film “Slepoy dozhd” (Blind Rain), which became her screen debut.
After graduating she worked from 1970 to 1989 as an actress at the film actors' studio attached to Uzbekfilm. In those years she appeared in “Drama lyubvi” (Drama of Love), “Navstrechu tebe” (Towards You), “Karavan” (Caravan), “Olovli sohil” (Fiery Shore), “Zulmatni tark etib” (Escape from Darkness), “Zdes prokhodit granitsa” (Here Passes the Border), “Ty, pesnya moya” (You, My Song), “Pole Aysulu” (Aisulu's Field), “Ajoyib xayolparast” (The Magnificent Dreamer), “Beregis! Zmei!” (Beware! Snakes!) and other films, as well as in the television series “Olovli yo'llar” (Fiery Roads, 1978–1984). She played the lead in “Karavan” and “Pole Aysulu”; in both films other actresses dubbed her voice.
From the early 1980s she was rarely seen on screen; in 2012 she played a hero's mother in “Mehrigiyo” (Grass of Love) and in 2014 in “Yolg'on” (Lie).
She was an Honoured Artist of the Uzbek SSR and a laureate of the Lenin Komsomol Prize of the Uzbek SSR (the sources give no year for either). She died in Tashkent on 21 January 2020 after a long illness.
