Rano Shodiyeva

Rano Shodiyeva was born on 12 August 1979 in Samarkand and is an Uzbek film actress. She came to cinema in 1995 with the film “Atrof oppoq qor bilan qoplangan” (“Everything around was covered in snow”) and in 1998 played Zaynab in the series “Shaytanat”.

Wide recognition came with the role of Gunafsha in the film “Vatan” (2006). In the following years she appeared in Uzbek films such as “O'tov” (2007), “Tashlandiq” (2008), “Qo'rg'oshin” (2011), “Baron” (2016) and “Berlin — Oqqo'rg'on” (2018), as well as in Russian–Uzbek co-productions such as “Zastava” (2007) and “Angel of Death” (2014). Her filmography lists more than forty works.

In 2007 she graduated from the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan and in the same year was named Honoured Artist of Uzbekistan.

From 2018 to 2022 she headed the Center for Youth and Children with Disabilities under the Youth Union of Uzbekistan, and in 2022 she was awarded the Order «For a Healthy Generation», 1st class. From 2022 to 2023 she was a project manager at the Uzbekistan Society of the Deaf, and since 2023 she has been chief specialist of its production department.

For the role of Sojida in “Ayol qismati” (2022, directed by Dilmurod Masaidov) she received the Best Female Character prize at the film festival of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation countries in Mumbai in February 2023, and in autumn of that year she was named best actress in the national films competition of the Tashkent International Film Festival. In 2025 she won the Best Actress prize for “Bahorni quvib” (“In Pursuit of Spring”) at the SCO film festival in Chongqing, China.
