Karim Mirxodiyev

Karim Husanovich Mirxodiyev was born on 29 July 1954 in Bukhara. He graduated from the Ostrovsky Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute. He worked at the Ilkhom theatre studio and played more than sixty stage roles; among his early theatre parts was the Infant in the play «Ezilgan havoriy» (1979). According to Afisha.uz, he first appeared on screen in 1979 in an episode of the film «Alibobo va qirq qaroqchi».

He became widely known for the lead role of Egamqul in the series «Charxpalak» (1997–2000). He also played Farkhod Khalilov in «XX asr dinozavrlari» (1990, directed by Habib Fayziyev), Shukur in «Yulduzingni ber osmon» (1996), Teshavoy in «Kichkina tabib» (1998), Zoir Rahmon in «Qo'rg'oshin» (2011, directed by Zulfiqor Musoqov) and Mirsobit in «Ota» (2014), and appeared in the series «Shaytanat», «Sardor», «Egizaklar» and «Mehmonxona». He took part in the Russian film «Vysotsky: Thank God I'm Alive» (2011).

For his role in «Sabot» (2017) he won the best actor prize at the 14th Eurasia International Film Festival in Astana; for the same role he was nominated for Best Actor at the 2018 Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the first nominee from Uzbekistan.

In 2001 he was named Honoured Artist of Uzbekistan, and by a presidential decree of 23 August 2025 he received the honorary title of People's Artist of Uzbekistan. The decree names him a member of the Creative Union of Cinema Workers of Uzbekistan.
